Program Overview

The Transgender Healthcare Access Fund is a charitable organization committed to providing financial assistance for gender-affirming healthcare to transgender individuals worldwide. Our program for Ethiopia addresses the critical gap in access to care by providing funding for essential procedures that are often not covered by insurance or public healthcare systems.

We understand that accessing gender-affirming healthcare can be challenging, especially for international applicants. Our program is designed to support transgender individuals from Ethiopia who seek high-quality care in the United States, where we have established relationships with experienced healthcare providers who understand the unique needs of transgender patients.

All funding is paid directly to healthcare providers, ensuring that grants are used for their intended medical purpose. This approach maintains transparency and protects both applicants and the organization.

Tips for a Strong Application

Be thorough and honest: Provide complete and accurate information in your application. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed.

Explain your financial situation clearly: Detail your income, expenses, and why you cannot afford the treatment on your own. The more context you provide, the better we can understand your need.

Include strong medical documentation: A detailed letter from your healthcare provider explaining why this treatment is medically necessary for your transition strengthens your application.

Share your personal story: Explain how this treatment will impact your life, mental health, and ability to live authentically. Personal stories help our committee understand the significance of your request.

Research providers in advance: Having an idea of which providers you'd like to work with in the United States shows you're prepared and serious about treatment.

Apply early: We accept applications year-round, but funding is limited. Submitting your application early gives you the best chance of consideration for available funding.
